Tourmaline and Quartz    Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter, 2019.  These tourmaline crystals that are believed to be chemically similar to those from Powers farm, showing zonation from their outer surface of dravite, NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3OH  to interiors of fluor-uvite CaMg3MgAl5 (Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3F.  The ones seen here are jet black and of the highest luster.  Their mirror like finishes contrast the whitish gray quartz which is typically very dull looking.  The piece is crystallized on all sides except its base.  Great views all around on this damage-free 3.5 x 3.1 x 2 cm thumbnail sized piece.  $65
