Tourmaline and Quartz Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York. Collected by Tim Dafoe, 2018. These tourmaline crystals that are believed to be chemically similar to those from Powers farm, showing zonation from their outer surface of dravite, NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3OH to interiors of fluor-uvite CaMg3MgAl5 (Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3F. The crystals are up to 2.2 cm each and form a cluster that measures 6 x 5.7 x 3.8 cm. There is a dusting of white quartz on these deep black, highly lustrous crystals making for an attractive contrast. The piece is in excellent condition. All the contacts from other crystals have healed surfaces. Except the base which the specimen sits on in an upright display position. It is very nice for this material. $225
