Tourmaline and Fluorapatite     Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected by the Dafoe family, 2017.  These tourmaline crystals that are believed to be chemically similar to those from Powers farm, showing zonation from their outer surface of dravite, NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3OH  to interiors of fluor-uvite CaMg3MgAl5 (Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3F.  The tourmaline crystals are up to 1.7 cm each and form a grouping that measures 3.4 x 3.2 x 2.7 cm.  It displays great from any direction and is composed tourmalines and sharp light green to white fluorapatite crystals.  The fluorapatites are much denser, larger, and more nicely formed than is typical for the location.  Most are doubly-terminated.  The piece is in excellent condition as can be seen but does have minor contacts on a couple tourmalines. This is a fine specimen for the location and displays several of the most important species for which the locality is well known.  $80
