Tourmaline Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York. Collected by Michael Walter, 2019. These tourmaline crystals that are believed to be chemically similar to those from Powers farm, showing zonation from their outer surface of dravite, NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3OH to interiors of fluor-uvite CaMg3MgAl5 (Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3F. The one seen here is jet black and of the highest luster with only the base termination having a lower luster. It is one large, hemimorphic crystal. It measures a respectable 4.5 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm. There are a couple minor rubs but the piece displays great from all directions. This fine example of a Pierrepont tourmaline is large for the locality. $160
