Tourmaline     Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected by Michael Walter, 2019.  These tourmaline crystals that are believed to be chemically similar to those from Powers farm, showing zonation from their outer surface of dravite, NaMg3Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3OH  to interiors of fluor-uvite CaMg3MgAl5 (Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3F.  The one seen here is jet black and of the highest luster.  It is composed of several intergrown crystals that are mostly in parallel growth (very uncommon for the locality).  The piece measures 3.3 x 2.5 x 2.2 cm.  It is a damage-free floater and a fine example of a Pierrepont tourmaline.  $120
