Tarnowitzite on Smithsonite    Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  Creamy white, high luster crystals of this variety of aragonite line a seam exposed in a galena rich matrix.  The original matrix was coated by brown smithsonite crystals.  Some can be seen poking out along the edges of the piece but most are covered by the tarnowitzite crystals.  The tarnowitzites are to over a cm each and nicely formed.  8.4 x 5 x 3.7 cm.  No damage to crystallized areas.  $295
