Sphalerite on Calcite   Level 3,931, Ruby Ridge, Empire State Mine, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Collected fall of 2022.  This is an example of the amazing sphalerites first shown at the Denver show in the fall of 2022.  These are smaller crystals but have the same beautiful amber/yellow color with red cores red cores.  They have excellent transparency, and unusually high luster allow them to stand up well when compared to the finest sphalerites known from any of the Balmat mines.

This piece measures 8.5 x 5.3 x 2.7 cm.  It is a thin matrix plate coated by beautifully formed, highly lustrous calcite rhombs (some twinned) to well over a cm each.  Both sides are totally covered by crystals with one side having most of the sphalerites.  The edges show the thinnest of contacts.  A beautiful specimen that is offered at an outstanding price!   $450
