Sphalerite     Lane Quarry, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.  Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection.  A very uncommon specimen from a once prolific quarry is seen here...a fine sphalerite that measures just shy of 1 cm on edge.  It is places in quartz on a calcite matrix and stands out in contrast nicely.  It measures 3 x 2.7 x 2 cm overall.  The sphalerite shows interesting modifications, nice translucence, and some iridescence.  Minor base contact on back at the crystals base but no real damage.  Mounted in a perky box.  $90
