Spessartine on Quartz     Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Fujian Province, China.  This is the old material found early in mining (dark red crystals vs. the now common orange variety).  This example measures 7.5 x 4.2 x 3.6 cm and is damage-free and aesthetic.  Both species are translucent to transparent and the garnets are brightly colored.  $80
