Smithsonite      Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia, South West Africa.  Ex. Thomas G. Fowler collection.  This example is another unusual one being composed of prismatic single and double terminated crystals on a dark matrix.  The color is actually a very attractive light pink and their luster is exceptionally bright for smithsonites.  The photos do not due these features justice.  In places there is either a secondary growth of clear smithsonites crystals or small cerussites.  They are so tiny I can’t even tell under 10x magnification.  6.4 x 4 x 2.5 cm.  The coverage by crystals includes the full front, about half the back, the top, and all of one side.  Bare are the base, one side and some of the back.  No damage, sits great… flashy in-hand.  It had a poor photograph session here.  $1,700 on sale for $1,190
