Herkimer "Like" Quartz and Calcite.  Lowville, Lewis County, New York.  This is one of the very fine examples of this limited material.  I kept it for my collection but am downsizing and no longer collecting this material.  This one is very aesthetic and was photographed for Rocks and Minerals magazine and in the New York State: A Topographic Mineralogy  book.  It is a large skeletal crystal that measures 5.3 x 4.6 x 4.3 cm.  There are transparent and translucent cream colored calcites growing within some of the skeletal face depressions (one of which is cleaved off).  It is damage-free (excluding the calcite which is not distracting), exceptionally lustrous, and beautifully colored.  Has base contact.  I was able to aquire the majority of this material when it was first found and there were only about eight or ten examples of this of this very high quality.  On sale for $1,160
