Quartz, Hematite, Calcite   Roncari Quarry (Tilcon Quarry), East Granby, Harford, Connecticut.  This large specimen is exceptional for the location.  The quartz crystals and calcites are up to 2 cm each and are displayed on very well-defined hemispheres of matrix.  This created a wonderful, aesthetic, 3-dimentional effect that makes this piece unusual for Roncari.  The piece is 14.2 x 7.4 x 7 cm.  The specimens display face shows a druse of gray calcite crystals with quartz, in a mix of sizes, scattered in mounds on its surface.  On both of these species there are very small hematite spheres.  I can find only one quartz that is chipped and one that is missing.  This is quite amazing considering all that is here.  It sits nicely for display.  This one is a top quality piece that is fantastic in-hand.  $950
