Quartz and Calcite Dafoe Property, Pierrepont, St. Lawrence County, New York. Collected by Tim Dafoe and Michael Walter, May 11, 2019. This discovery produced some of the finest examples of quartz known from this prolific township famous for its tourmaline and tremolite specimens. This is a stunning piece measures 6.2 x 6 x 5.2 cm. The largest quartz point is 3 cm long. The quartz have exceptionally high luster and beautiful form. The calcites are less attractive but make for a nice contrast for these show-stopping quartz. There is hematite staining within both the smaller quartz points and the calcite crystals. This piece is damage-free and displays great from all views. The piece is a fine one for the location and very few as nice as this were produced. This important find was documented in Rocks & Minerals magazine.
