Pyrite and Galena  Island of Elba, Livirno, Prov., Italy, Italy. Ex. Dr. Steve Chamberlain collection. This location is certainly more famous for its tourmalines, however this fine pyrite would be a stunning example in any collection of Italian minerals. This specimen is a single crystal measuring 5.2 x 5.5 x 4.6 cm. It is a pyritohedron modified by what looks like octahedrons. Some faces are sunken a partially filled by tiny secondary growth pyrites and galenas. The crystal is highly striated and of extremely high luster. Its condition is exceptional would only base contact and one very tiny ding which blends in so well with the complex crystal faces that it will be nearly impossible to find. A top shelf pyrite specimen that takes a lousy photograph. $295
