Grossular and Diopside    York River Skarn Zone, near Bancroft, Ontario.  Collected by Michael Walter, early 1990s.  Now a Provincial Park, these garnets have become difficult to find for sale.  Normally they are very small, seldom close to a cm in diameter.  This one ranks as HUGE.  The majority of the piece is a single crystal that is over 7 cm.  The piece is 9.8 x 8 x 5.6 cm.  The crystal is lustrous but shows several shallow contacts and numerous intergrown diopside masses and crystals.  The specimen is a bit crude but still a desirable piece.  $250
