Fluorite on Quartz Long Yan Mine, Yongchun County, Fujian Province, China. At the time of this posting there is only one specimen that is similar to this new material that I have found to confirm the locality (it was on Mindat and noted it as being Yongchun County). Like other new Chinese minerals the locality confirmation will normally solidify within a few months to a year. In any case, several new styles and colors of fluorite are being attributed to this locality and I have examples of several here. This beautiful specimen is composed of large (to 3 cm on edge each) cubes of BLUE fluorite. My camera best shows the color in the outdoor shot, the last image, and the close-up of the cubes. There is a flange of quartz missing on one edge and a tiny chip on another flange of quartz, otherwise this is a specimen of great quality. The fluorites have nice transparency, size, luster, and are spaced nicely instead of intergrown. The contrast and definition displayed by this specimen is exceptional. I found no others is 19 days of shopping that had this quality. It is 17 x 12 x 6 cm overall. The back is sculpted so it is trimmed to perfection. $1,500
