Fluorite Yaogangxian Mine, Bai Shi Du, Chen Xhou, Yizhang County, Hunan Prov., China. Ex. Harold L. Dibble collection. This specimen has what everyone is looking for in an exceptional fluorite of this size (the specimen measures 7.8 x 7 x 4.6 cm with the primary crystal measuring 3.1 cm on edge). Fantastic mixed colors due to phantoms and being able to see through to the matrix in places. All sides visible , at least in part, including the base. Big crystal has a small attachment spot, natural, and not readily evident. No damage, even to edges and smaller fluorites but one small quartz crystal appears to be missing. Overall in fantastic condition for a specimen of this quality. Great balance to the proportions of crystals and matrix. Sits nicely. The matrix is muscovite with an unknown mineral coating creating the gray staining on it. Very high luster and much better in hand. The material from this mine has become less and less common and never produced many specimens of this high quality, anyway. On sale at $2,000
