Anhydrite    4,051 Level, Lower Mahler, Empire State Mine, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, New York.  On June 8th, 2023 and enormous pocket was hit at Balmat.  It is the most impressive discovery in the long history of this important New York State zinc mine.  Numerous fine colored calcites were recovered over approximately a month of work by miners.  Anhydrite was an uncommon mineral for this pocket.  This example measures 3.3 x 2.2 x 2 cm, is damage-free and has a very light purple tint not readily evident in the photos.  The crystals are transparent and beautifully formed.  Slightly domical.  The small sulfide accessories appear to be pyrrhotite.  $125
